Last week I posted about being part of a writers group over at GoodReads. I reviewed a book, and in turn, my book was reviewed. I have one book so far and that’s Noah’s Noodles.
Part of being a writer, perhaps a large part, is being able to take criticism well. That includes when people are brutally honest and sometimes mean. I’ve always believed that the only feedback worth considering is one-hundred percent honest feedback. I have to remember to not take the criticism personally. I am free to agree or disagree with any parts of the criticism, but I have learned to listen when trends develop. That indicates a problem.
The review group I am part of is comprised of only authors, so everyone stands to gain something from the experience.
This is my first review from within the authors of GoodReads. I think it’s fair and honest. I wish I had this feedback three years ago. It might have made a difference in the version of Noah’s Noodles I published back then, however I’m not going to stress over it. I will be keeping these notes in mind for my next children’s book.
What do you think?
