I just finished the first draft of my next book, Vermin. This time is always a little bitter sweet for me, since it’s time to step away from the story and characters that have grown on me for the past four and a half months. I’ll miss them.
But it’s time for the manuscript to head over to my editor. It’s interesting that finishing the manuscript coincides with school beginning again, letting go of past years and accepting new challenges. It’s also a time where I change hats for a little while and focus on ideas for the cover, probably the most important part of the book, in that the image is the visual hook that will get people to open the book and look inside. I’ve had a couple of concepts bouncing around in my head over the past weeks. If you’re a member of my Advance Reader Team (many thanks to those who are 😀 ), you’ll get a sneak peak of not just the manuscript, but of cover ideas as well. If things go well, I’ll have Vermin live just in time for Christmas. I think it would make a great gift. 😉
I’ll also be focusing on other marketing ideas for my first book, Tied, when time allows. Everything is just rolling along nicely.
