Morgan Spurlock’s RATS is being released to Discover Channel soon, and it couldn’t be better timed.
As many know by now, I wrote my second novel, Vermin, over the course of several months this year. But the story began as a screenplay going back as far as 2009. I’ve always found the subject of rats fascinating and horrifying at the same time, and after being forced to play exterminator a many summers ago, I can relate to the problem in a very real way. Rats may look cute and cuddly, and the domesticated variety are, but when lives and safety are at stake, the wild variety take on an entirely different light.
One of the books I read for research was Rats by Robert Sullivan (affiliate link). It’s nice to know that Spurlock and I are working from the same reference material. It looks like Spurlock travels the world in his documentary, where I remained in good old New York City. But trust me when I say there’s enough chills and spilled blood in New York City to satisfy any horror fan. If you’re curious, some of the other books I read way back when this story was taking shape can be found on my Pinterest profile.
I anticipate releasing Vermin just in time for Christmas. Look for Spurlock’s RATS to air October 22, 2016.
