Adobe recently released an update to InDesign CC 2015 (11.2 to 11.3). Like a good, obedient user, I updated. Then the shit hit the fan.
I found out after the fact that the InDesign 11.3 update had a known issue where the application would spontaneously crash during loading. The application never started, rendering it unusable. My internet sleuthing revealed no rhyme or reason for it. I am in the final stages of making corrections to Tied, so you can imagine my horror when I couldn’t even load the software. 🙁
I tried everything, up into the wee hours last night. Reinstalling, renaming folders, setting permissions, the works. My pounding head and cough due to a raging cold didn’t help matters. I threw a tweet into the night and attempted to get a little sleep. Come this afternoon my prayers were answered.
After a short search on the Adobe forums, I found what I was looking for. If you need the last stable version of InDesign, in this case 11.2, download it here.
This saved my ass. Maybe it will save yours too.
UPDATE
There is a fix for this now. Find it here: Replace TypeKitC4.dll
UPDATE 2
I no longer use Adobe products. Instead, I use the Affinity line of products, just as capable and a hell of a lot more economical.
