How many writers out there work best in coffee shops? I’m guessing there are many of you that swear by it. It’s a great place to observe the people going about their daily lives. But how safe are you?
Every coffee shop worth its beans offers free WiFi these days, making it a great place to relax with a cup of joe (or tea) and pound out the pages, while still having access to the Internet whenever I need it. For ease of accessibility, there usually is little to no security, plus devices are usually left wide open with regards to WiFi. Someone could easily compromise my laptop or my phone, or access sensitive data, all from a remote location.
In less than 20 minutes, my life could be changed for the worse. Here’s how one hacker did it, and how I (and you) can protect yourself.
